Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide derived from a fragment of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH 4–7), extended with a Pro-Gly-Pro sequence. It has been investigated for its potential neuromodulatory and neuroprotective activity, including effects on neurotrophic signalling, neurotransmitter systems and gene expression associated with neuronal function and cellular stress responses. Its mechanisms remain under investigation.
